Seven Weight Loss myths you didn't know
WEIGHT LOSS MYTHS YOU NEVER KNEW
Have you ever wandered why you never lost weight even after doing all the weight loss tips you’ve ever read and heard?
Was there something you missed or did you not do it properly?
Yeah, it happens…
It can get very frustrating.
You may ask yourself,
Why am I unable to lose weight?
It might actually have been that you were following the wrong exercise or you were lied to.
Some of these myths are:
• Going on fruit diet
• Skipping meals
• Eating a particular food for a period of time
• Drinking water
• Exercise
• Starvation
• Losing weight in a couple of days
- Eating fruits or going on fruit diet.
Does taking fruits make one lose weight?
I know many people have been told that going on complete fruit diet for sometime can actually help you lose excess weight, but is this true?
Fruits are very beneficial the human growth and development, Yes…
But, can you actually say it aids weight loss?
You can say rather than eating fruits instead of excess carbs and junk foods is a good way to prevent yourself from accumulating excess fat from junks Or that Fruits are more healthier.
Fruits aren’t responsible for burning down excess calories present in the body and doesn’t make you lose weight.
Taking fruits at night is usually recommended because we most times have the urge to eat heavy foods before bed. This prevents you from taking Carbs and Junkies but taking fruits at night doesn’t make you lose weight as many have been told.
2.Skipping Breakfast or Dinner
Does skipping meals make one lose weight?
This is another lie, you cannot lose excess fat by skipping meals. Each meals either breakfast, lunch or dinner are all important for healthy growth, skipping one cannot be good in any way.
Breakfast gives us energy to start the day while Dinner is essential as it is unwise to sleep on an empty stomach. Skipping meals leaves you hungry and tired and makes you prone to taking Junks during the day. If you do not eat Dinner you might wake up in the night feeling very hungry and eat any food available which most likely will be Junkies.
It is not advisable to skip meals as a weight loss measure because it doesn’t help at all.
- Eating a particular food for a period of time.
Which foods should I eat to lose weight?
Most weight posts and videos recommend eating a particular food, fruit or drink for a period of time, a week, a month or even for months. Sadly as I discovered, people tend to stick to this approach a lot more.
Ever thought about the six classes of food; carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins, minerals, fats and oil and water and why they are all essential for being healthy.
So what happens when you eat only a class of food,…..you lose the nutrient the other classes give. This way you are not growing healthier, yes….you may appear to have become slimmer but through an unhealthy method. It won’t be long before you get weaker and look malnourished and Your doctor may then recommend energy and body building carbs for energy.
Eating a particular food for a long period is not recommendable for a person. I think it’s far better to eat a healthy diet but in a small quantities than eating a particular food which is not beneficial to you in the long run.
- Drinking water burns out belly fat.
Does drinking water help burn fat?
Have you ever heard that drinking water burns belly fat?
Drinking water is good but if you take in too much water, you feel bloated giving you the illusion of belly fat. Yes….water flushes our body system and increases body metabolism but it should be watched too.
Consider this next time, you keep consuming too much water to burn belly fat. You should be able to differentiate between a bloated tummy and excess fat on the tummy or you might be doing it all wrong. Drinking water cannot help you reduce the size of a bloated tummy which is usually due to excess gas.
It was also discovered that drinking water at night helps the body metabolism process. Then again, as it has been proven, if you drink water before lying down on the bed especially when you lie face down that is on your belly, the excess water pushes the skin around the tummy thereby stretching it more and increases the size.
I suggest drinking a glass of water first thing in the morning because it helps in proper functioning of the body as it acts as a fuel that starts the body up. As for the night, drinking water few minutes before lying down on the bed is better.
- Exercise alone does the trick.
I know many people who do all sorts of weight loss training but keep eating junk food. Some people exercise regularly even daily without amendments to diets, funny enough I did this too.
I know Someone who would run for an hour then would immediately go into a store, buy soda and junks and eat it immediately after running. She always complained of not loosing fat even after running for a long time. The answer lies in the fact that she immediately replenished the calories she lost from running immediately with junks and water.
Why do I need to watch my diet?
Some people think that as long as you exercise regularly, you will lose weight but it isn’t so. It’s impossible for exercise to do the trick alone so Dieting is very essential. You have to watch what to take into your body system and that’s where the trick lies.
- Starvation.
How many times have you starved yourself to get that perfect figure you always wanted?
This theory is false for weight loss.
You cannot loose belly fat from starving yourself. If you starve yourself or skip meals, you get hungrier and tempted to eat any food you see without putting much attention to it. Some starve themselves so much that when they finally eat, they are unable to control their diet at all.
It is preferable to eat little quantity of food three times a day than to starve yourself only to eat once a day and consume a large quantity at once. Even if it’s just a fruit always take something into your body.
Is it good to starve myself?
Starvation can also lead to Ulcer of the stomach.
- You can lose weight of excess fat in only a couple of days or weeks.
This may be true for bloating but not belly fat.
Losing fat requires constant usage of stored fat converted to energy by Insulin. This fat is converted during exercise because the body uses up energy and needs replenishing and after the exercise.
Eating foods that do not encourage building up of excess fat but only a moderate quantity that encourages using up instead of storing in excess. If any measure taken to lose fat burns calories very fast within a short period of time, chances are ….. THEY WILL BE BACK AGAIN QUICKLY.
It’s been proven that once you have a huge appetite and consume a lot of food which leads to accumulation on any part of the body, even after shedding excess fat, the fat producing points around those areas are still present. This means once you go back to your habit of eating excessively or eating those unhealthy or Junks, you are liable to go back to your old shape.
This is also applicable to some people. This doesn’t work for everyone too.
I suggest before following through with any losing belly fat routine, try to find out how true it is. Most people are doing the right thing the wrong way and that’s why they are not getting the desired results.
